The Eagle Ford Shale Region of south Texas is a productive and reliable source of shale gas for our nation, and with the increased presence of industry equipment in residential areas this school outreach program was created to educate community members on the potential dangers of trespassing or getting too close to oil and gas equipment.
Along with exploring a fascinating online learning world, fourth grade students will get to learn from a local firefighter about the types and uses of the equipment along with the incredible ancient geologic origins of the Eagle Ford Shale with a hands-on fossil lab. Students will be empowered to find better things to do with their time than trespassing at oil and gas sites along with gaining a better understanding of the region’s ancient geologic wonders.
